Taking care of your pet is a team effort with you and your veterinarian working together to maintain optimal health and treat illnesses. Benevet allows you to connect with veterinarians more quickly and easily than ever before.
The benefits of using Benevet include:
• Receive care from anywhere, with no need to miss work or travel long distances.
• Save time and travel with no waiting room, no stress to your pet, and no exposure to other sick animals.
• Easily collaborate with your primary veterinarian for chronic issues.
• Obtain second opinions and consultations that may not be available in your area.
• Get timely advice for urgent issues, avoiding reliance upon an Internet search for important decisions.
• Discuss preventative medicine, nutrition, behavioral issues, vaccinations, and more.
• Jointly manage your pet's Benevet chart, updating information and adding documents, pictures, or video as needed
– an open chart makes information more accessible, a trend in human medicine as well.
• Review chart notes, secure messages, or recordings of any visit any time.
• Save money – visits may be less expensive than traditional office visits or alleviate the need for an emergency room visit,
reducing cost when appropriate.

Once our product has been released in 2021, the process will be as follows: This involves entering personal data such as contact and billing information, reviewing our Terms of Use, and completing the Health Overview for each pet to the best of your knowledge.
Select your usual veterinarian or find the best match for your issue using our search criteria. You may schedule future appointments or find a veterinarian available for immediate consultation.
Get your questions answered through an online consultation or send a secure message. You'll agree to pricing in advance – each veterinarian sets their own pricing – and payment will be collected at the start of your consultation or when your secure message is sent.
Can I contact my usual veterinarian on Benevet?
Yes, you may connect through Benevet with your usual veterinarian if they have set up a Benevet account. You may contact your veterinarian's office to notify them of your interest in Benevet online consultations.
Can I contact a veterinarian I have never seen before?
Different regions have different regulations, but sometimes it will not be possible, or legal, for veterinarians to provide care over the Internet. Before scheduling a visit with a veterinarian please look carefully at their profile to determine availability.
Can I get a copy of my pet's Benevet medical chart?
Your Benevet chart is a permanent electronic medical record for your consultations, secure messages, and uploaded images and documents. You may review these at any time, and you may select which veterinarians using Benevet may access your pet's chart. If desired you may print out a report for placement into your pet's paper chart.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost for you to sign up and complete the Health Overview for your pet(s) or to search for a veterinarian. Each veterinarian sets their own prices; this will be made known to you prior to scheduling and paying for the consultation. Benevet consultations may be less expensive than a traditional office visit.
What medical issues can be handled on Benevet?
If your pet is severely, acutely ill, then an online consultation is not appropriate. Most chronic illnesses and acute, non-emergent minor illnesses can be addressed although a hands-on exam, labs, or imaging study may be recommended. Questions about wellness/preventative medicine, nutrition, and behavioral issues also are well suited for Benevet consultations or secure messages.
Can I get a prescription medication?
Yes, sometimes medications can be prescribed. This will depend on whether or not your consultation is with a veterinarian with whom you have an established relationship and recent exam. Without this some veterinarians may only be able to give general advice without making a specific diagnosis or treatment plan. For second opinions and specialty consultations, your primary veterinarian can help you obtain any recommended medications. This should be discussed with the veterinarian at the time of your consultation. Benevet does not supply medications or other supplies.
Can images from radiology tests be viewed?
Benevet supports the display of radiology images, so if your veterinarian adds the image to your pet's Benevet health record, you can view them.
What happens if an office visit is necessary for a physical exam, labs or radiology imaging studies?
In some instances your pet's medical issues cannot be fully evaluated without an office visit. If your office visit is with the same veterinarian, they may choose to charge less than a usual office visit. Benevet cannot guarantee this, however.
What if I have more than one pet?
Your Benevet account can include all of your pets! Please list each pet separately within your account so that all documentation remains correctly organized within that pet's chart.
Are all the veterinarians licensed?
Yes, all veterinarians using Benevet agree to a "Terms of Use" contract stating they have an active veterinary license in their region. Some supporting documents may be available on their web page for review. However, we are not currently able to provide independent verification of veterinarians' credentials. Feel free to ask the veterinarians about this and verify through their office or local veterinary organizations. Please let us know of any concerns.
Is my information kept private?
Yes, your billing and personal information is secure and private, following a model similar to that used by banks and online stores. You select which veterinarians may access your pet's Benevet chart; this does not include access to billing or personal information.
When is sending a secure message appropriate?
Messages are best for a veterinarian who is familiar with your pet, such as a follow up question regarding a previously diagnosed problem. This method of communication will not work well for diagnosing a new problem, if there are multiple issues, or for urgent problems.
What if no veterinarian is available?
At times there may be no available veterinarian for immediate consultation. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working to continue to increase the number of veterinarians using Benevet. Please seek a traditional office or emergency room visit. Let your local veterinarians know about Benevet and your interest in connecting with them for consultations and secure messages.
Is there a Benevet app?
As of now, Benevet runs only in a Web browser. But stay tuned--we're working on app versions, too!
What operating systems and web browsers are compatible with Benevet?
Benevet runs in current and recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on Windows desktops, laptops, and tablets; Safari and Chrome on the Mac and iPads; and Chrome on Android tablets. In order to participate in a video consultation, you'll also need a high-speed Internet connection.
What happens if I get disconnected or cannot hear or see well (technical difficulties) during a visit?
If you get disconnected and still have an Internet connection, just log back in and you can pick up where you left off. If you or your veterinarian lose your connection entirely, you may reschedule the consultation. Just let us know at service@benevet.com and we can be sure you don't get charged more than you should.
What forms of payment do you accept?
All major credit cards and PayPal are accepted.
What do I do if I'm having technical difficulties or need assistance?
